WelcomePlease welcome Jennifer Ellsworth who is responsible for processing accounts payable and maintaining all grant accounting. Prior to joining Pierce Law, she served as the director of finance and administration for High Point Communications Group, a public and media relations firm in Bow, NH. She holds a BA degree from Tufts University. In her spare time she serves on the Music and Arts Board of her church and also sings in the choir. Out and AboutOn May 1, Buzz Scherr will give a presentation to New Hampshire Superior, District and Probate Court judges on "Ethical Issues in a Less-Than-Perfect World: Managing Witnesses in Sexual Assault Cases." On May 2, Professor Sophie Sparrow will present a workshop at the New Hampshire Judicial College to be held in Meredith, NH. Her writing workshop will focus on "Effective Opinion Writing in New Hampshire Courts" for New Hampshire judges from district, family and superior courts. On May 22, Professor Mary Wong will speak at the 21st Annual Technology Law Conference, organized by the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, TX. She will co-present with a former colleague from Morrison & Foerster on "User-Generated Content: The Collision Between Business Models and Copyright." On May 31, she will chair a panel on "Intellectual Property, Human Rights and Global Development" at the 2008 Law and Society Conference in Montreal. Her paper is entitled "Copyright and Access to Knowledge within a Human Rights Framework." On May 19-23, Visiting Professor Karen Hersey May 19-23rd teaching in The Innovative University Program in Nicaragua and lecturing to various university and governmental groups in Nicaragua. Professor Kimberly Kirkland will speak on a panel entitled "Good Culture: Moving Beyond Loss Prevention in Law Firms" on May 29 at the ABA Center for Professional Responsibility 34th National Conference in Boston. On June 1, she will present a paper titled " Firm Management's Influence on Lawyers' Ethics in Practice" as part of a session on micro and macro analysis of the Contemporary Legal Market at the 2008 annual joint meeting of The Law and Society Association and the Canadian Law and Society Association to be held in Montreal. On July 16, she will present a paper entitled "Designed and De Facto Implementation of Ethical Norms in Large Law Firms" at the Third International Legal Ethics Conference in Gold Coast, Queensland Australia. |
