Computer Support for Students, Faculty and Staff
Pierce Law's Computer Services department strives to keep up with the ever-changing world of higher education technology. Student, Faculty, and Staff feedback is an essential component to our existence as we continue to adapt to our user's constantly changing needs. We try extremely hard to integrate all of the functional technology that is possible, by providing our users with as many technological resources as we can.
Pierce Law web services can help you with all your electronic communications needs. Along with your user name and password you have access.
Access your email account
GroupWise Client (download and install on your computer)
This is the preferred means of checking your Pierce Law e-mail.
Groupwise WebAccess
The WebAccess portal is not intended to be a primary means of checking your Pierce Law e-mail. It is a convenience, intended for when you are using a computer on which you cannot install the GroupWise client.
Third-party e-mail Clients:
You can retrieve your Pierce Law e-mail via any third-party e-mail client (ie Outlook, Thunderbird) that supports either the POP3 or IMAP protocol (both standard and SSL-enabled). Our server setting, for both incoming and outgoing (SMTP) is: mail.piercelaw.edu
IMAP is our preferred third-party client protocol, and is a live reflection of your GroupWise account. IMAP will leave all mail on the Pierce Law mail servers until you delete it.
Checking e-mail via the POP3 protocol will download all e-mail into your third-party client and place all retrieved mail into the trash in GroupWise (leaving the only copy on your computer), where it will remain for 7 days.
You must enable authentication (using your Pierce Law credentials) in order to send mail through our SMTP server. SMTP services are available from off-site, provided that you authenticate (SSL is preferred, but not required).
