Tenure-track faculty appointments

Franklin Pierce Law Center is currently seeking applicants for four tenure-track faculty positions in the areas of business law, intellectual property and business law, director of the Social Justice Insititute and patent litigation:

  • Franklin Pierce Law Center seeks applicants for a tenure-track position as Professor of Law, starting in the fall 2009. We seek an individual with significant practical experience in the area of business law. Candidates must have a J.D. or equivalent degree and possess a strong commitment to teaching in a diverse and multicultural law school environment. Teaching experience and evidence of research and scholarly achievement are welcome but are not required to apply for this position. Minority and female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Franklin Pierce Law Center seeks applicants for a tenure-track position as Professor of Law, starting in the fall 2009. We seek an individual with significant practical experience in intellectual property and business laws, preferably with expertise in those practice areas relating to the business aspects of intellectual property (e.g. asset securitization and strategic management of intellectual property.) The successful candidate may also teach in the basic business law curriculum. Candidates must have a J.D. or equivalent degree and possess a strong commitment to teaching in a diverse and multicultural law school environment. Teaching experience and evidence of research and scholarly achievement are welcome but are not required to apply for this position. Minority and female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Pierce Law seeks to hire a full-time tenure-track faculty member to serve as Professor and Director of the Pierce Law Social Justice Institute starting in the fall 2009. The faculty director of the Pierce Law Social Justice Institute will lead the SJI in building a community of students, faculty, and alumni/ae at Pierce Law who share a commitment to equal justice for marginalized and underrepresented clients and causes.

    In this role, the faculty member will teach one course each semester in the field of social justice, engage in sustained, quality scholarship in the field and assist in organizing and coordinating the educational, service, and career opportunities offered to students interested in social justice. This position requires a demonstrated commitment to teaching and scholarship as well as a passion for promoting social justice. Applicants must hold a J.D. degree and have a minimum of 3-5 years experience working as a legal professional in the field of social justice, for example, as a legislative or community advocate, litigator, or nonprofit executive or project manager.   • Franklin Pierce Law Center seeks applicants for a tenure track position as Professor of Law starting in the fall 2009. Law Professor

  • Teach law courses full-time (either four courses or 12 credit hours per year in two semesters or comparable clinical instructions). Courses will include intellectual property law, basic copyright law with focus on international copyright concepts, copyright licensing and cyberlaw.
  • Prepare syllabus for printing each semester, choose textbooks and compile materials for course.
  • Evaluate and grade students' class work, assignments, papers and oral presentations
  • Engage in scholarship and related research
  • Participate in faculty meetings and retreats
  • Participate in school committee assignments
  • Participate in advising students on academic curricula
  • Participate in student orientation
  • Attend conferences and undertake speaking engagements.
  • Teach summer programs as necessary

Minimum requirements: JD degree or an LLB and a LLM.  Four years experience.  Experience should include 2 years in the practice of intellectual property law; and 2 years of full-time teaching experience in basic copyright law (with a focus on international copyright concepts), intellectual property & business transactions, and cyberlaw; and a record of scholarly activity in the foregoing areas.  Additionally, the candidate should have some experience in providing academic counseling to international students.


Office Assistant

NH Appellate Defender Program, serving the legal needs of indigent criminal defendants in the NH Supreme Court, seeks a motivated individual to work 10-15 hrs. per week providing secretarial support. Candidate will provide office support under the supervision of the office administrator.

The position requires an individual with prior office experience who can manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment; detail oriented; solid computer skills in Corel Word Perfect and Word.
