High School Student Mentor Program
In partnership with a group of School to Career Coordinators and their high schools, the Social Justice Institute has established a student mentor program. Law student volunteers participate by speaking to high school classes on a variety of topics ranging from the importance of effective communication skills in the legal profession to corporate law.
Law students participate as mock trial coaches for high school teams preparing for state-wide and national competitions. Volunteers benefit from these public speaking experiences by strengthening their knowledge of procedural and substantive law. High school students gain insight into their course work and mock trial preparation strategies, which they would not have without the volunteer efforts of our law students.
Pierce Law's Social Justice Institute has been publicly recognized for its partnership with School to Career Programs at Hillsboro-Deering High School and Pelham High School; receiving the New Hampshire Partners in Education Gold Circle Award each year since 2002.
