Assistant Dean and Co-Director Mary Sheffer directs the Career Services Office. There, she teaches the JD, LLM and MIP students the skills necessary to conduct an effective job search. She also counsels students regarding job search strategies, credentialing opportunities and course selection. She develops and maintains relationships with legal employers throughout the country. She also plans and implements educational programs, inviting attorneys to Pierce Law to tell students about the attorneys' particular area of practice.
She is an active member of the New Hampshire and Maine bars and the National Association for Law Placement (NALP). She has made presentations at several of the NALP annual conferences which are attended by legal recruitment professionals and law school career development professionals. She is co-author of the book The Lawyer as Supervisor, Manager and Motivator.
In her tenure at Franklin Pierce Law Center, she has been the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, and the Externship Director. Before coming to Pierce Law, she practiced in Portsmouth, NH, and before attending law school she was a human resources director.
