A new intellectual property handbook featuring chapters by several
Franklin Pierce Law Center faculty and alumni is now available online
at www.iphandbook.org, offering a unique resource in intellectual
property and innovation management.
Entitled Intellectual Property
Management in Health and Agriculture Innovation: A Handbook of Best
Practices, the 2,000 page handbook features tools, strategies and
case studies encompassing innovation in health and agriculture to meet
the needs of populations in developing countries.
The book includes chapters by faculty members Professor Karl Jorda, Visiting Professor Karen Hersey, Anne McCrackin, Director, Patent Practice and Procedure Program (JD '97) at Pierce Law, and Dr. Stanley Kowalski (JD '05), scholar in residence at Pierce Law, as well as alumni Hua Guo (MIP '06) of Shanghai, China, and Suzanne Somersalo (MIP '02) of Silver Spring, MD.
The book was co-published by the Public Intellectual Property Resources for Agriculture (PIPRA) and the Centre for the Management of Intellectual Property in Health Research and Development (MIHR).
According to Dr. Alan Bennett, executive director of PIPRA and handbook
editor, "It answers the question, "How can public sector entities best
fulfill their mission to bring their innovations to both the world's
affluent and disadvantaged alike?'"
