Pierce Law celebrates World Intellectual Property Day

Franklin Pierce Law Center will join institutions worldwide and the World Intellectual Property Organization, a specialized agency of the United Nations, in celebrating World Intellectual Property Day, held each year on April 26.
A special reception for participants attending Pierce Law's 10th Comprehensive Patent Cooperation Treat Seminar will be held on Friday evening, April 25, at the Courtyard Marriott in Concord, beginning at 5 PM.
A proclamation from New Hampshire Governor John Lynch will be presented.

Initiated by WIPO in 2000, World Intellectual Property Day seeks to increase public understanding of what IP really means, and to demonstrate how the IP system fosters not only music, arts and entertainments, but also all the products and technological innovations that help to shape our world. Specific goals include: raising awareness of how patents, copyright, trademarks and designs impact on daily life; increasing understanding of how protecting IP rights helps promote creativity and innovation; celebrating creativity, and the contribution made by creators and innovators to the development of societies across the globe and encouraging respect for the IP rights of others.

WORLD INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY DAY
APRIL 26, 2008
WHEREAS, The human creativity of artists and innovators impacts our lives in great ways; and
WHEREAS, New Hampshire's technological and artistic history have advanced the well-being of our citizens and culture; and
WHEREAS, Art, literature, food, music, medicine, transportation safety devices, and computers are all valuable forms of intellectual property; and
WHEREAS, The present-day artists and inventors of New Hampshire are pioneers through the inventions they create and the art they produce; and
WHEREAS, Intellectual Property has a daily effect on our lives and is brought to us through the hard work, dedication and genius by those who venture to pursue it;
WHEREAS, New Hampshire is home to Franklin Pierce Law Center, an ABA-accredited law school, celebrating its 35th Anniversary, internationally renowned for its intellectual property law curriculum and its dedication to educating students in the protection of intellectual property for the benefit of all peoples.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOHN H. LYNCH, GOVERNOR of the State of New Hampshire, do hereby proclaim APRIL 26, 2008 as INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY DAY in New Hampshire.
