The Honorable Carol Ann Conboy to Receive Ricker Achievement Award

The Honorable Carol Ann Conboy, Pierce Law Trustee and alumna, has been selected to receive the 2008 Marilla M. Ricker Achievement Award.  The award will be given to Judge Conboy by the New Hampshire Women's Bar Association at its annual Fall Reception October 15.

The achievement award, named for Marilla M. Ricker, the first woman to apply for admission to the New Hampshire bar, honors outstanding women lawyers in New Hampshire who have achieved professional excellence, paved the way to success for other women lawyers, advanced opportunities for women in the profession or performed exemplary public service on behalf of women.

Carol Ann ConboyJudge Conboy was nominated for this award for the many accomplishments of her 30-year  career.  After graduating Pierce Law in 1978, she was a federal court law clerk before joining McLane, Graf, Raulerson and Middleton as first an associate, then partner, concentrating on employment law litigation.  She was appointed as a Superior Court justice in 1992.

At all stages of her career, Judge Conboy has broken ground for women, starting when she served as an officer in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.

In addition to Conboy's service on the Board of Trustees for Pierce Law, she chairs both the New Hampshire Supreme Court Advisory Committee on Judicial Ethics and the New Hampshire Superior Court Sentence Review Board. She is also a member of the New Hampshire Bar Association's Committee on Professionalism and actively mentors young attorneys.

The Fall Reception honoring Judge Conboy is open to all lawyers and judges in New Hampshire and requires no RSVP.

The New Hampshire Women's Bar Association is a statewide bar association, founded to promote and support the advancement and interest of women in the legal community through leadership, professional interaction, education and the exchange of ideas between its members and the community.
