LRAP Golf Tournament Raises $10,000

The 5th Annual LRAP Golf Invitational, held June 22 at the Concord Country Club, raised over $10,000 to support the Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP) at Franklin Pierce Law Center. Eighty-eight players and many sponsors raised the funds to assist Pierce Law alumni working in the public interest. Such lawyers often balance the need to pay off large amounts of student debt with the desire to serve in generally low-paying public interest legal capacities.

The first place team was made up of Jeanne P. Herrick JD '98, Gallagher, Callahan & Gartrell, PC; the Honorable Steven J. McAuliffe; Michael R. Callahan, Gallagher, Callahan & Gartrell, PC; and Michael R. Ruedig JD '77, Gallagher, Callahan & Gartrell, PC. The second place team was comprised of Michael Colburn, Lake Shore Village Resort; John Cook, Granite College; and Bill McKellar.  Third place honors went to the New England Copy Specialists Team comprised of Steve Denver, Denise Denver, Wayne Hamilton and Clara Hamilton.

Steve Denver, New England Copy Specialists, won Men's Longest Drive. Julie Howard JD '88, Strafford Superior Court, won Women's Longest Drive; and Deb Vallieres, Steeplegate Eyecare, PLLC, won Closest to the Pin. Trivia winners were Richard Uchida JD '84, Orr & Reno; Vera Buck JD '82, Orr & Reno; Thomas Bigelow, Bigelow & Ashton; and Greg Robbins, Shaines & McEachern.

Professor Ellen "Annika" Musinsky prevailed over stiff competition from Professor Chuck "Tiger" Temple JD '85 to win the "Best Outfit" award.  Both Professors were co-chairs of the Invitational, along with Jackie Colburn JD '96, NH Public Defender.

Pierce Law alumni who accept jobs in the public service are eligible for LRAP awards.  Applications are due June 30th.
