Community Service Day Honors Clinic Founder
Franklin Pierce Law Center's 2009 Bruce Friedman Community Service Day is scheduled for Saturday, November 21, 2009, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The Bruce Friedman Community Service Day honors the memory of Pierce Law's longtime Professor and Clinical Director, and gives all in the Pierce Law community opportunity to participate. Friedman is remembered by colleagues as often saying, “Do good as you do well.” He believed strongly that lawyers have a duty to serve their communities by providing legal services to the indigent, and by volunteering their time. Volunteers spend a Saturday morning working for Concord non-profit organizations such as GoodWill, N.H. Dress for Success, the Concord Public Library, Y.M.C.A., the Concord Holiday Parade, N.H. Coalition Against Domestic Violence, and others.
The Public Interest Coalition (PIC) organizes and sponsors Bruce Friedman Community Service Day and asks volunteers to sign up in the Jury Box during lunch November 16-20 OR electronically via the sign-up sheet posted on the “PIC: Bruce Friedman Community Service Day” TWEN site. Volunteers will meet at Jan's desk at 9 a.m. Saturday morning for a light breakfast before heading out to volunteer locations. Family and friends are welcome to participate.
