Franklin Pierce Law Center student Nekmat was a special guest at the screening of the controversial film Rethink Afghanistan at New England College November 18.  Pursuing his Master of Laws degree in International Criminal Law and Justice, Nekmat received the invitation to speak as an Afghan who has lived through years of conflict in war-torn Afghanistan.  He is a native of Khost province, located on the Afghan border with Pakistan. He was displaced numerous times during civil war, and presently calls Kabul home.

Rethink Afghanistan is intended "...to raise critical questions regarding Afghanistan that Congress must address in oversight hearings, which inform the public and challenge policymakers" according to its creators.

Approximately 65 students and community members attended the screening and ensuing discussion.

Nekmat earned his LLB in Law and Political Science at Kabul University and is a Fulbright Scholar for the 2009-2010 school year. He chose to attend Pierce Law because  “it is the only law school in the U.S. which offers an LLM in International Criminal Law and Justice."
